Class Is Always In Session

“Only education is capable of saving our societies from possible collapse, whether violent, or gradual.” Jean Piaget

Education is the key to success. If you do not earn the High School diploma, you stifle your chances for success in America. The diploma is where it all begins; a new beginning. Now you have choices; get a job, go to college or enlist into the military. College is not for everyone; however community college is a wonderful option for those who made average grades in high school. At the community college, for a very small fee, you can learn trades like; heating and air condition repair, plumbing, carpentry, teacher assistant, certified nursing assistant or forklift driver. In these tough economic times with employment down, we need to find decent employment wherever we can find it. McDonald’s is one of the few places on the earth that you can have a high school diploma and go from sweeping floors to division or regional manager. It takes having a ‘Work Ethic’ and or ‘Intestinal Fortitude’. If you have those two things, you can be successful at anything you touch. Do not listen to the ‘Naysayers’, you know, those folks who will tell you that you will not amount to nothing. Unfortunately, the ‘Naysayers’ can be friends and even family members. You can be successful at boiling water, if you want to. Keep your eye on the sparrow and you will eventually reach your goals. Class is always in session.

What we teach our children as they grow up, will make all the difference in how they turnout as adults. Parents; ‘Love’ is powerful motivator when it comes to preparing our children for self-sufficiency. In some cases we may find that it may require ‘Tough-Love’, to get our young people in the right direction. As parents we must show our children what it takes to be successful. If we don’t show them, the streets will. You must realize that children of today are mostly visual learners, and they learn from everything that they see. The children mimic what they see.

Parents; ensure that you are showing them the right things. Class is always in session to the young child. Children are very impressionable. If you show them good things; the children will try to impress you by showing you that they can do those things. If you show them bad things; the children will try to impress you by showing you that they can do those things, too. If the children see that Daddy kisses Momma every day before he departs for work. Your son may believe that is what he is supposed to do to his girlfriend or wife and your daughter may expect to be kissed before her man departs for work. Unfortunately, if your children see Daddy going upside Momma’s head every day. Your son may believe that is the standard of how a woman is treated. Your daughter may believe that is the way she is supposed to be treated. Class is always in session.
